The Gorgon has a great deal of patience, but it's obviously not infinite.  And names are verrrrry important to her, both personally and culturally.  So to be called something like "Georgie" -- which is not even an attempt at her name, it's a butchered appellation based on Lettie's inability to remember the name of the Gorgon's species -- particularly galling.  As you can imagine, she'd find it shocking that Aylia's absent-minded father can have a memory that is equally appallingly faulty.
