Regardless of her beliefs about the importance of respecting family members, the Gorgon does not blame Aylia for the way she treats Alassa -- the Gorgon has been roommates with Alassa for longer than she's known Aylia, and her attitude towards that despised roommate is not . . . precisely high.  Thing is, though, there's no huge cultural push towards always respecting siblings that she grew up with -- siblings are, well, siblings.  It's good to respect them, but they don't always deserve it.
