If you recall, Mordran is Victoria's boyfriend, so of course he drops by to pick her up for dates sometimes.  Now, it occurred to me in writing this storyline that there's a massive, massive hole in X's cover story that everyone has somehow managed to miss: if X is stuck in an in-between form that isn't permanent, she shouldn't be able to do magic.  And nobody can use permanent transformation magic by accident.  So she's obviously lying about something somewhere.
