Here's the thing: X is not a good liar.  Oh, sure, she can get away with it better than many people because she won't blather on and accidentally say things that are suspiciously contradictory, but . . . X doesn't put any thought into making a lie sound plausible.  So the only reason she can get away with lying over ludicrous things (like, say, being a fairy who got in a shapeshifting accident) is that she says everything flatly, with no normal visual cues.  Also the fact that she almost never sees the point in lying.
