I was genuinely startled when Corinn said he hated Tilia.  I'd kind of absently assumed most of the grown-ups got along with each other (well, okay, other than Edwardine and Letitia, but Lettie bothers everybody) up to this point, but of course that's just shallow reasoning.  I was shocked when I realized that this was the real reason Corinn doesn't want to see his family again -- he's always resented bossy people, and so he can't stand his sister-in-law!  That explained a lot.
