I feel bad for Loretta's father. He's not opposed to the idea of swords, the way his wife is (for some reason, she doesn't like the idea of her children playing with sharp weapons, go figure), but he doesn't care that much abou them personally, so he tries hard to keep from taking sides. This can be difficult when, say, he finds out that his son brought home a cutlass bought in Thailand . . . his reaction to that discovery was: (sigh) "Don't hurt yourself. And if your mother finds out, I never knew. Okay?"
