Virtually all my real-life friends who read my comic strip had characters loosely based on them by this point, but for some reason, I hadn't managed to come up with one for one of my two best friends.  The other one had actually been the first person to get a character deliberately based on her in my comic strip, so you can imagine how frustrating this was for me.  With a character as important as X based on one of my two best friends, and the other without a character at all, things seemed unfair!
