Poor Lettie.  She wants to take over Alassa's wedding, wants to spoil her daughter rotten in order to live vicariously, but Alassa is not interested in sharing any vicarious glory.  Nor does she have the least bit of gratitude or pity, which makes her immune to guilt-tripping.  Which is kind of sad for Lettie, but given that Lettie does manipulate people with guilt-trips, she generally should be ignored; just probably not so callously.  Joralan, meanwhile, just doesn't care about any of this.
