Of course, it's not actually that difficult to badger Kurthan into things -- he prefers to avoid annoying people, as we saw when he was teaching that class of total beginners.  Get on his case long enough, and you could probably convince him to do just about anything, as long as he knew it could make you go away.  Meanwhile, I feel a little sorry for Loretta's mother.  She didn't actually agree to anything, but she's still too shell-shocked to try to keep arguing.  A tad overwhelming!
