Charson's a percussionist who hates playing on the beat.  As such, he finds "beautiful" music very boring to play -- rhythm's usually regular in such pieces, which means it just isn't something he considers challenging.  What he enjoys is trying to find a beat that sounds almost regular, then suddenly jerks off in a completely different direction.  Not pure chaos, which is just noise, but that perfect fusion of randomness and regularity that is ideal for driving people absolutely crazy.
