Terry-Beth and Sydney, Kuralla's younger brother and sister, are in constant competition over who their likeable big sister prefers.  Partly this is because they both have a competitive streak; partly it's because she's attained a glamorous reputation that they are not above exploiting to show off to their friends.  They've always liked her -- unlike Arabella and Charlie, who are mean -- but now they also have entirely selfish reasons to make sure she likes them.  Kuralla hasn't yet noticed this.
