I figured there had to be some reason Loretta's nonhuman friends could be wandering around in the same room with her relatives and still not cause demands for explanations.  Then I realized that half of Loretta's human friends would have shown up in medieval costumes, some probably quite elaborate.  The Gorgon would still be . . . conspicuous, to say the least, but you can see how, next to dozens of deliberately anachronistic costumes, she might not seem completely out of place.
