You see, since X's parents think she's going to school somewhere in our world, they'd be happy to pay her tuition -- but money from our world is not going to be worth anything in Aylia's.  Duke Joralan got around this by using "don't notice me" spells on all of Aylia's official forms, including every unpaid tuition statement.  But this wouldn't be an option for X; no accountant would be fooled, in Aylia's world, by such an obvious red flag that they are trained to detect.
