First of all, the story has a lot of important characters -- everything from main characters (Aylia) to former main characters (Nicole and Sissy) to temporary main characters (Cecelia and Kuralla over the first summer break) to major characters who started out minor (Reg and Felincia), to minor characters who started out major (Jenny and Albert), etc.  The fourth semester was the longest yet because, even though Aylia knew all her roommates before it started, there were so many people involved.
