(Snorts with laughter.)  I had to do it to them.  I just had to do it to them.  In every upperclassman's life, there comes a time when they suddenly realize they're surrounded by freshman.  In the case of X's real-life counterpart, this took the form of roommates -- lots and lots of roommates she had nothing in common with.  This being a roommate situation I've seen around all over the place, I had to use it somewhere.  So now this apartment is dividing itself into two camps: the popular and the nerds!  ;P
