I owe the idea for this strip entirely to my little brother.  Matthew got online to talk with me once, and he asked if Lionel had been based on him.  I said "partly," which was true -- when I first created Lionel, Matthew was only four or five years old, so he didn't inspire much then.  (Another brother, who is only two years younger than me, inspired most of Lionel at the beginning.)  But nowadays, since Matthew and Lionel are about the same age, there are quite a lot of similarities between them.  (Grin.)
