One rather nasty point of Umbrian law holds that children are actually legally required to obey their parents' orders -- which means that, if a child (think teenagers, particularly) defies their parents in some way not otherwise illegal, they can be held legally responsible and be treated as minor criminals.  Granted, this law has softened a lot over the centuries -- there are all sorts of qualifications to it now, to (for instance) protect children from abuse or from being ordered into marriages they despise.
