Normally the Gorgon wouldn't like Alassa very much, since she's had to live with Aylia's little sister for two years now.  And so meeting Aylia's mother -- well, hearing her voice, at least -- would immediatley make her think, "Alassa's mother!" -- not "Aylia's."  She would normally never insult a people's family members in front of them, but she's not really thinking in those terms at the moment; even though she's aware that Aylia and Alassa are sisters, she's thinking "Alassa's family" in the first panel.
