Professor Witzig doesn't understand Aylia's attitude towards school at all, but it's really not as incomprehensible as he assumes.  She's interested in learning -- otherwise, she wouldn't bother to show up at any classes -- but she doesn't feel like she has anything to prove at this school.  So tests are pointless, grades are silly, and reviews are a waste of time.  I have to say, I would have loved to borrow Aylia's attitude back in college -- but people expected me to pass my classes to graduate!  Harrumph.
