I figure Loretta's talked to Lionel on the phone about her swordfighting class, and he's developed a humongous desire to join her there because of it.  So meeting everyone he's heard about for months has to be a dream come true!  Unfortunately, he has very little desire to actually sit still and learn anything here -- he sees this as a fabulous vacation, not an actual class.  No matter what he said in the previous strip about wanting "to learn about swords, too," that is not actually what he's most eager to do here.
