Now, there was a reason I had switched to "black and white."  I'd used "color picture" to scan things in at the start, but that forced me to spend a lot of time cleaning up smudges, and the first twenty or so strips suffered horribly from my inexperience in doing so -- either they turned out black and grey, or the black lines got hideously washed out as I tried using the paintbucket tool to clean up problems.  (Yeah, I was extremely inexperienced back then . . .)  Discovering I could scan things in "black and white" was a lifesaver.
