The head of housing may turn a blind eye to a few of the things her tenants do -- she's let X get away with a lot more than most landlords would, for instance -- but she doesn't like taking advice from hysterical parents.  She's very "hands off" in her disciplinary approach, since she figures college students should be able to take care of things for themselves; but by the same token, she's not nearly as "whatever you want" with parents: she tends to think they ought to stay out of their grown-children's business.
