In case you can't tell, Queen Tilia is not fond of Jenny's mother.  Edwardine looks at things in terms of economics, you see, while Queen Tilia looks at things in terms of people.  Edwardine figures that anyone who pays her money deserves to have their opinions respected, while anyone she has to give money to should treat her the same way she treats her employers.  It's a logical way of looking at the world, but a harsh one, and it sure doesn't make for a good parenting strategy.
