One thing that I thought I ought to show in this storyline was how Alassa interacts with her peers when Aylia is not a factor.  She does have friends . . . of a sort . . . well, think "rich, snobby, backbiting cliques in high school" and you'll get the idea of what her "friends" are like.  But then, that's all Alassa wants -- she's a very shallow person, so those are the kinds of people she'd want to hang out with.  She doesn't want true friends to confide in; she wants fellow rich snobs to compete with.
