I figured there had to be some reason for Daria's machine to be shaped like an egg, so I gave it one.  :P  Though, for the record, it didn't create those snakes -- there is no type of magic in Aylia's world that can create live where there wasn't any before, or turn inanimate objects alive.  That's something researchers have been trying to figure out how to do for thousands of years, but it seems to be one of the magical laws in Aylia's world that that's impossible.
