Every comic strip artist has their own unique style.  When I was reading one of Bill Amend's essays in one of his FoxTrot collections, pointed out that he almost never showed three or more characters interacting in his strips -- unless he went with a one-panel strip with every main character saying one line.  That fascinated me, because though I'd been reading the strip for years and years, that had never occured to me.
